They escape and the inevitable "let it go" de-escalation with Tarka begins, but their logic is less than perfect. Jett Reno (Tig Notaro) and Book (David Ajala) prisoner, but Book has found a sneaky way to escape though by fiddling with something he found on the floor. With the last season also giving us a lame season finale, there was quite a lot riding on this one, and while it's better than last season, Discovery's season four ender is not without its faults … and sadly, there are quite a lot of those. Looking back at all 13 episodes, we've seen some glimpses of absolute genius, we've seen some abhorrently lazy writing and we've seen just about everything in-between. We've mentioned in the past that the most consistent thing with "Star Trek: Discovery" is how inconsistent it is and this season finale doesn't do anything to alter our opinion. After a somewhat disjointed 13-episode season, that felt like it was following an almost identical template to last season and made up of two very different halves, we have the concluding episode, entitled "Coming Home." It's fourth time around for the finale of "Star Trek: Discovery" on Paramount Plus. And with that, he encourages his husband to enjoy a stroll on the Holodeck with him.Well, here we are. His Steely Resolve in "The War Without, The War Within" Despite enduring over 30-some time loops and resets, which ends with the Discovery blowing up each time, Stamets is relentless in his pursuit to stoop the loop without harm to the crew. ![]() While asking Burnham to dance with him, for science, he explains the temporal loop the ship and crew are caught in. To his benefit, these sides effects aid Stamets when Harry Mudd uses a time crystal and time displacement device to commandeer the Discovery, allowing him to spot the temporal manipulation. Repeated exposure with the mycelial network affects Stamets in a number of ways two most noticeable effects include a friendlier disposition and partially straddling the universe's natural flow of time. Dancing for Science in "Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad" Plus, with this act, they successfully rescue Lorca and grant Ripper freedom. While connected to the mycelial network, for the first time in his career, he finally understands the very essence of mycelium and has a vast universe of possibility open up. Making the tough call to protect Ripper and save Lorca, Stamets injects himself with the tardigrade DNA, hooks himself to the spore drive taking Ripper's place, and handles the ship's jumps. When Captain Lorca is taken prisoner by the Klingons, acting captain Saru commands Stamets to ready the spore drive for several jumps across Klingon space. In the words of Stamets, science, and more specifically, the mycelial network is "f*****g cool"! Unfortunately for Ripper, the tardigrade who powers the spore drive, every jump the Discovery makes taxes its system, causing extreme pain, which ultimately forces Ripper into a state of cryptobiosis.
